Professorship (W2) in Basic Language Literacy German in Heterogeneous Learning Contexts
Our profile
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of young scientists and transfer.

The Department of Cultural Studies combines a broad range of degree programs with high-profile research areas that attract significant external funding: It offers teacher training degree programs for all types of schools in the subjects of German and English, as well as subject degree programs such as Applied Linguistics, Literature, and Cultural Studies. Through the Institute of Journalism and distinctive initiatives and institutions like the Academy in Exile and the educational TV channel NRWision, it provides important impetus in academia, the media, and societal transfer.

Profile of the professorship
You represent German Studies in research, focusing on the areas of written language acquisition (taking into account heterogeneous developmental trajectories) and/or inclusive approaches to language – in each case incorporating didactic perspectives – and develop these areas further with (inter)national visibility. Additional desired research areas include writing development, multimodal communication, and/or reading promotion. In doing so, you participate in research networks and cooperations within and outside TU Dortmund University and the University Alliance Ruhr and are committed to promoting early career researchers. You participate appropriately in the teaching activities of the department and, within the German Studies Program, are responsible in particular for program-specific courses for the elementary school teaching track and special education.

Your qualifications
You have obtained a doctorate with above-average success and have acquired a post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. You have demonstrated your research excellence in the field covered by the professorship through continuous publications in (inter-)national recognized peer-reviewed venues, especially in recent years, and have experience in acquiring third-party funding. Additionally, you have the potential for teaching excellence. Social and leadership skills and the willingness to participate in academic self-administration complete your profile. Moreover, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG) apply.

We offer an excellent academic environment and attractive cooperation opportunities with renowned international, national, and regional partners.
