Professorship (W3) School education and general didactics with a focus on teaching and learning processes at schools
Our profile
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of young scientists and transfer.
The Institute for General Didactics and School Pedagogy (IADS) researches school as an institution and organization, innovative teaching and learning methods as well as evidence-based teacher education.
Profile of the professorship
At IADS, you will represent the field of teaching and learning processes at schools from the viewpoint of school education and didactics, and with a particular focus on schools as places of socialization and education of responsible citizens in the context of social transformation, and develop it further with international visibility. In doing so, you participate in research collaborations within TU Dortmund University as well as on a national and international level, and are committed to promoting early career researchers. Appropriate participation in teaching, primarily in the teacher education programs, is expected.
Your qualifications
You have obtained a doctorate with above-average success and have acquired a post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. Your research in the field covered by the professorship focuses on one or more of the following areas:
- Dealing with heterogeneity,
- Teaching and learning in the digital age,
- Strengthening subject-independent skills.
Your research is based in qualitative or quantitative empirical research on teaching and schools, preferably with a mixed-method approach. You have demonstrated your research excellence through continuous publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, especially in the last years. You have been successful in obtaining third-party funding awarded in competitive grant schemes, and have led research projects. Engaging in research practice collaborations, in scientific knowledge transfer or in science communication is desirable. Additionally, you demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching. Social and leadership skills and the willingness to participate in academic self-administration complement your profile. Apart from that, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act
(Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG) apply.
